1st round of the TF winter league at Tingrith, I knew I couldn't’t keep up with the small fish anglers, so I fished choppy at 6mtrs for proper fish and won, with a couple of pounds to spare.
And also a round of the summer league on the Derbyshire Derwent -
3 pegs away from the end peg, just as the whistle went a massive shoal of bream started to porpoise their way downstream at a fair rate of knots, all the locals were shouting that we wouldn't be able to stop them, as they don’t like feed on their heads…. 12 jaffas later and 4 pints of caster through a big catty saw 6 fish in the net for 38lb, next weight was 5lb from the end peg. NICE!
A tip from me:
Far too many people start too light or change to lighter gear when feeder fishing for bream, in my opinion you don’t need to!! I never (even in winter) go below a 0.11 hooklength. If I’m catching I’ll be on 0.14 (Sarfix DNA finale Carpe) as a minimum.
I see far too many people frightened to death once they have had a bite, trying to coax a bream from a shoal on 0.09 hook lengths; usually they loose the fish and its match over! If I pull into a fish, I just keep pulling the rod back as far as I can whilst winding down to the fish without any fear of the hooklength breaking, then just keep winding!!
Try it……. It works
